Pet Food Assistance: Our Mission
No one should have to choose between
feeding their pets…
or feeding themselves.
At Halo Café, our mission is to help families keep the promise they made to their pets to love and care for them forever by providing pet food to those who cannot afford it on their own.
We exist to reduce shelter intake of wanted pets,
to educate families on the importance of spay and neuter and to keep established companion animals where they belong - at home - by providing pet food and resources to low income, homeless and elderly community members in need.

Who We Are
Founder
In 2011, Jennifer Quinn-Yovino and her husband Jim Yovino founded Halo Cafe Inc., recognizing the critical need for local animal welfare support, community pet services, and assistance for individuals facing food insecurity. This initiative was designed to help prevent these individuals from having to surrender their pets to a kill-shelter. Since its inception, she has cultivated a thriving nonprofit that has provided invaluable services, including a pet food pantry, assisting hundreds of individuals over the years.
President
Thalia Arenas is a former animal shelter Humane Educator and the current owner of a Wedding Venue. With skills in ministry, notary work, and volunteer management, combined with her entrepreneurial mindset and strong advocacy for animal welfare support, she has stepped into a leadership role at Halo Cafe. Her objective is to enhance community pet services, particularly by expanding their pet food pantry, thereby continuing to assist families and the pets they love.
Vice President
Colleen Cabral, the founder of Foster Paws, an organization committed to animal welfare support, has recently been appointed as the new 2026 Vice President & Treasurer! Her initiatives, including the community pet services program and the pet food pantry, are greatly supported by the community to assist those in need.
Secretary
Nancy Wright began her journey as a regular volunteer at our pet food pantry and has been a steadfast advocate for TNR cats. As of 2026, she is thrilled to step into the role of our new secretary, furthering her dedication to animal welfare support and enhancing community pet services.
Treasurer
Yani Lopez is an accounting major with a strong passion for organization, accuracy, and service. She will be overseeing and managing our finances to ensure that every donation and resource, especially for animal welfare support and community pet services, is handled with care and transparency. This includes managing our pet food pantry to help those in need.
Grant Writer
Lisa Modenbach is Halo's Grant Writer, deeply committed to both animal welfare support and the community. She began her journey as a volunteer, diligently assisting at the pet food pantry and other community pet services. It wasn’t long before she recognized her potential to contribute even more significantly to the organization. She joined the team to leverage her impressive writing skills to secure grant opportunities that help fund our mission, allowing us to provide vital pet food and resources to families in need throughout our community.
Marketing
Jika Arteaga is our marketing and social media manager, where she plays a key role in managing client inquiries on our social media platforms and promoting our organization to enhance visibility about Halo and our animal welfare support initiatives. Her passion for animals blossomed when she began fostering rescued animals. In addition to being a freelance photographer, she contributed to Halo's Christmas Pet Photos, which inspired her to volunteer more actively. Ultimately, this dedication led her to join the board, where she helps oversee community pet services and our pet food pantry efforts.
Volunteer Donations Driver
Tom is our Donations Driver, playing a crucial role in our community pet services and animal welfare support efforts. He ensures that the items donated at the various Halo Bins are picked up and brought to our holding facility. A true rockstar, he is always ready to prepare orders for our pet food pantry and manage the incoming supplies.
